The DJI Spark is a leap forward in the drone industry, as the cheapest addition to DJI's traditionally expensive lineup.
Where it differs from previous cheap drones in the 300-500$ price range is it comes fully featured with anything someone just entering the field might need.
A high quality 1080p camera, which shoots significantly better footage than the average 'toy-drone'
In fact, here's an example of a panorama I took using the spark with very little experience.
as well as all the other features that makes DJI stand apart, such as it's intelligent flight app which allows everything from real-time viewing of the drone's camera all the way to GPS tracking and even the ability to make the drone return to home with a click.
The drone comes equipped with an intelligent flight battery which typically allows for a flight time of about 10-15 minutes on a full charge, which is why I would recommend purchasing a spare battery for extended use.
One charge takes about 80 minutes using a normal USB charger, although this is significantly reduced if you pay for DJI's charging hub.
The drone also comes equipped with some high-end features you wouldn't expect from a drone at this price range, for example the drone's "sport mode" which can be toggled from the controller, this allows the drone to reach speeds as high as 31 MPH.
While you can buy the drone without a controller for cheaper and pair it with a mobile phone, I would highly recommend purchasing a controller as it allows the drone to fly significantly further away and break the 'toy-drone' barrier.
